Used primarily in Sporting Clays, these Midi targets are often used to create an optical illusion, as they can appear to be farther away than they really are and deceive the shooter into giving them more lead than necessary. Its smaller size makes it a greater challenge to shooters.

They are even faster than the standard target in the early part of their flight. Along with its smaller diameter, it also has a reduced height at ¾ of an inch. Tighter chokes are called for at greater distances. Midis, the most aerodynamic of the domed clays, maintain their velocity and flight path better than standards. They also slow down later in the flight.”
